Maizey
(formerly Daisy)
Dear Golden
Treasures,
My name is Maizey (fka Daisy) and I have a great story
for you! I came to you from a women who said she was
moving and couldn't take me along with her. Funny, I
don't remember her name anymore. Anyway, you took care
of me and then on July 29, 2006, you introduced me to my
new mom, Susan. She seemed nice enough, so I went with
her. It was a long drive there, and I wasn't sure what I
was getting into.

I met my older sister, Sunshine (aka Sunny, Sun, Sundawg,
age 11) and my new cat, Camelot, age 11. Sun was
indifferent to me and Cammers wanted no part of me!
There were lots of new people who came to meet me, and
most of them brought snacks. I thought things were going
very well for my first day! We fell asleep that night,
but at 1 AM, I had to go outside, so I woke my Mom up. I
think she was grateful and very impressed.
After about two months, Sunny started playing with me.
She actually started pawing at me and we began
wrestling. My mom thought it was pretty funny and got
pictures of us. We still play and I think my sister
really likes me now. We often sleep together, sometimes
touching.
I get to go to the woods everyday to chase squirrels and
I love it. I'm not much of a retriever of balls or
frisbees nor a swimmer, but I do like to lay in the
water to get cooled off. I usually wear myself out
because I am obsessed (my mom says "focused") with
chasing squirrels. It's great fun and they usually get
away from me.
Mom says I'm "big boned" at 80 pounds and I love to eat.
A girl's got to have some nourishment after chasing
squirrels for a couple of hours everyday! She has taught
me some manners, but is sometimes annoying when she
says, "Watch Sunny. She'll show you the ropes." I'm
still learning not to run when I'm attached by a leash
to my mom, and I've learned basic commands. She says I'm
a "runner", whatever that is, so I'm never outside
alone.
Mom takes really good care of me and says, "I love you"
all the time. She's started calling me "Chewie" because
I make some funny grunting noises when I'm happy. I
guess Chewie was a movie star, but I'm not sure.
Anyway, Sunny and I love each other and Camelot and I
live a peaceful coexistence. Mom says that's she lucky
to have found me, but I think it goes both ways. I love
her so much and she is so kind to me. I know she'd never
leave me behind if she had to move. Our vet says that
Mom is the luckiest person he's ever known, having
gotten both me and Sun as rescues. He thinks we're
perfect.
I've enclosed some pictures of Sunny and me. I'm the
gorgeous redhead, and Sun is the equally gorgeous
white-faced retriever. Thank you, GTR, for finding me a
wonderful home. I'm a very happy girl!

Love, Licks, and Tail Wags,
Maizey
