My husband and two daughters had been asking for a pet dog for a few years. I was always reluctant to get a dog due to the fact that I had never had a dog in the house growing up and I was very much at peace with the amount of responsibility I already had with a family and working part-time.  

However, we are home a lot and love animals, so when we moved last year to a house with a fenced in yard, all of our friends started to say "You have the perfect yard for a dog."  I began to seriously consider this and knew that I did not want to get a puppy and ruin new carpets and a new home during the house-breaking stage. We looked up dogs on Petfinder after a friend recommended checking it out for an older pet. We carefully considered this decision for a few months and then we got hooked on golden retrievers and eventually applied to adopt one.  

We have had Max for over three weeks. He is the perfect dog! I can't believe that someone could give him up. He is adorable and we love him.  Golden Treasure Rescue matched us well. He is housebroken, neutered and so well mannered. He is affectionate and loving. He has made us so happy. My husband cannot believe that I am lying on the floor at night, hugging this wonderful dog. Me, a person who once said, I will never have a dog in my house!!"  

I am so glad that we decided to get a two-year old dog that needed a home. This was a wonderful choice for our family. Max has made our family complete.
