Happily Ever After - GT Adoptions We'd like you to share your adoption success story so we can post it here. Please send your stories with pictures (if you have them) to info@goldentreasuresrescue.org. Riley
Riley just turned two-years old on January 14, 2008. I can’t believe how the time has flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were on our way to Warren, Ohio to adopt Riley. Riley is doing well. He has really grown into a handsome boy. Riley has recently been taking out the garbage with us. I have no idea how this started, but on Sunday nights either my husband or I will say to Riley, “Time to take the garbage out.” He runs to door and walks down to the curb with us. I occasionally allow him to carry a piece of cardboard or plastic water bottle. He then will place the cardboard or plastic bottle in the recycling bin. We have also noticed he loves to put napkins in the trash. We will give him a napkin and he will walk over to the trash and put it in there. We never trained him to do this, he just does it all on his own. We love Riley so much. It is like he has always been a part of our family. Thank you again for the opportunity to adopt Riley. Whenever anyone asks about Riley, I always tell them about Golden Treasures Golden Retriever Rescue and how they should adopt a dog from this fantastic organization.
Best regards, Krystn & Adam Smerecki
Henry (formerly Victor)
Dear Golden Treasures,
We adopted Henry (formerly
Victor) from your organization last August. He is a special
needs golden, due to his occasional seizures, but he
adjusted very quickly to our home. He has even become
friends with Putty - one of our two cats. We call them the
“Two Amigos” as they both share an amazing love of both food
and sleep. It is not that uncommon to see Henry and Putty
napping together or to turn around while fixing lunch and
see the side-by-side grins of Henry and Putty looking up at
you hopefully for a quick snack.
Coming home from work is a highlight for both of us to see an overly excited dog waiting to greet us and there are at least two instances a day where Henry will do something where we get a genuine laugh. It is amazing that a dog with this much love, intelligence and personality would be given up for adoption, and we often think aloud to one-another to who could actually give up this dog? Whenever we take him out on his many daily walks, we are frequently stopped by people passing by who want to know where we got such a gorgeous and well-mannered dog. And their jaws drop when we tell them he was a rescue. Whatever the reason was for Henry to come to Golden Treasures, we are glad to have found him and made him a permanent part of our family!! Becca, Derek, and the cats
